The Solution
After meeting with the clients and the council, we developed an effective traffic management plan using a CAD design to demonstrate how the process would work. This was then submitted to the council by the client.
With the plan in place, we used outside sources to produce the signage and then installed a high-speed lane closure with an IPV (Impact Protection Vehicle) to protect the workforce from a potential collision.
Despite all the planning that goes into projects of this type, you can never entirely predict how the public are going to manoeuvre around what you’ve done.
For this reason, we continued to monitor the project, conducting regular site visits and asking the client for feedback. If extra signage was required or something needed to be repositioned, we returned to make these improvements.
We also did a weekly maintenance run where we checked for broken or damaged cones, checked the batteries in the lamps that guide drivers at night and ensured everything was operating as it should be.
